Our Trees are Different.

The exceptional quality of Highland Farm trees is the primary reason demand continues to grow. But it’s not the only reason. The success of Highland Farm of Oregon is also due to our longstanding business culture. While it may take six to eight years to grow a Highland Farm tree, we understand that its life as a saleable product can be as short as a few weeks. To insure our buyers receive the highest salability and greatest value, all trees are mechanically shaken prior to baling and are shipped within hours of harvest. For maximum profitability and convenience at retail, orders can include a custom “Cut Date” tag to verify freshest. Our inventory control, order management and shipping system are one of the most efficient in the industry. You will receive exactly what you ordered, when you want it.

Frequently Asked Questions:

Q: How many trees are in a truckload?

A: The number of trees in a truckload will range from 600 to 800 trees depending on the size, grade and species of the trees loaded.

Q: What is your minimum order?

A: Our minimum order is generally 250 trees. A number of factors can affect an acceptable minimum order including space available on a truck or the value of the order. You should never decide your order is too small without talking to us. We will always try to find a way to serve you.

Q: What are your payment terms?

A: In general new customers are expected to pay in full prior to shipment of the order. You are welcome, however, to fill out a credit application. Subject to approval of your application credit terms MAY be available.

Q: How is payment made?

A: We accept checks, bank transfers and all major credit cards.

Q: Do you sell/where can I buy wood stands, flocking, flock machines, lot supplies etc.?

A: Click on the links to Peak Seasons and Pursell Manufacturing. Both companies have been in business for years and offer a complete line of tree lot supplies.

Q: Do you arrange shipping?

A: Yes.

Q: What are the freight charges? How are freight charges figured? How much is freight per tree?

A: The mileage from our farm to the destination will determine the shipping costs. We then divide the cost by the number of units on the load or drop to determine unit cost.

Q: What species, grades and sizes sell the best? What species, grades and sizes of trees should I order?

A: You are going to have to analyze your market to determine how to properly craft your order. In general, noble fir, grand fir and Douglas fir are priced in descending order and bigger trees are more expensive than smaller trees. Number ones are more expensive than number twos but the quality is not as good.

Q: What is the difference between Douglas fir, noble fir and grand fir?

A: Go to the “Our Products” page and click on the pictures of the trees to get an idea of the difference in appearance between the different species and grades of trees. You can download and print any of these pictures for your use.
Noble fir is frequently referred to as the Mercedes-Benz of trees. With it’s short stiff needle, dark green to blue green color and it’s resistance to dropping needles even at the end of the season makes it the perfect tree in the minds of it’s many admirers. Douglas fir is a very full tree with an upright branch structure, with very soft needles and bright green to dark green color. Grand fir smells good! It has the density found in Douglas fir and long, glossy, dark green needles growing perpendicular to the main stem.

Q: What trees sell best?

A: Again you must understand your market. In terms of popularity noble fir is first with about 50% of the market followed by Douglas fir and grand fir. Over all, 6’ to 7’ trees command about 50% of the market with all other sizes sharing the remainder. How they sell depends on income levels and home sizes in your market area.

Q: How can I be assured of the quality, size and freshness of the trees I receive?

A: Our trees are individually selected, sized and graded in the field prior to harvest. We take care in this process because our future is based on our customers’ satisfaction. Our goal is to average no more than three days between cutting a tree and shipping and shipping that tree to our customer. We feel this will insure the consumer-your customer- the freshest, highest quality tree available in the market. And, whether it’s mid-December or early May, if you need our assistance an expert is always standing by.
